Bluteau

Bluteau
The unobtrusive typeface for scientific purposes

Bluteau family got its name from the priest Raphael Bluteau, the great  Portuguese language lexicographer and author of the Portuguese and Latin Vocabulary (1712—1721). Bluteau is a very complex type family, with Sans and Serif, each with Regular, Pro, Arabic, Hebrew, and Glossary versions. For improved design outcomes, we added Bluteau Slab and Bluteau Fine, two styles that sit on the extreme of the typographic spectrum, and Bluteau Code, a sturdy monospaced version of Bluteau Sans, specially designed for programming, both available in standard and Pro versions. The standard Bluteau contains an extensive Latin character set, with small capitals and Vietnamese, while the Pro version adds support for Extended Cyrillic and Polytonic Greek. Bluteau Glossary is even more complex, with full IPA support, Petit Caps, and many miscellaneous symbols. Our magnum opus is Bluteau Math. With over five thousand glyphs, Bluteau Math aims to cover all necessities for complex mathematic requirements. Among such an overwhelming range of glyphs it is possible to find Blackletter, Script, Sans, Double Struck and Italic letters, Delimiters, Root Symbols and Arrows. Generally speaking, Bluteau is a calm and unobtrusive typeface with clear, differentiated letterforms. Designed as a tool for scientific texts, Bluteau is available in seven weights ranging from Light to Heavy and matching Italics.
